The Prosthesis Pole at EPFL N-Pulse is dedicated to the development of transradial (below elbow) and transhumeral (above elbow) arm prostheses. Our long-term ambition is to participate in the Cybathlon 2028, competing in the Arm Prosthesis Race.

To achieve this, we are developing prostheses that integrate three control modes: Computer Vision, Electromyography (EMG) and Electroencephalography (EEG).

The EMG and EEG systems are being developed within the BMI Pole and will be integrated into the prostheses during the year.

Focus for this year

• Implementation of an eight degrees-of-freedom transradial arm prosthesis: four for the fingers, two for the thumb, and two for the wrist.
• Create a research-oriented prosthesis for testing the three control modes with an emphasis on reliability and extensive testing prior to integration.
• Preparation for patient integration starting next year.
